Introducing Slobovia

Slobovia, officially the Slobovish Republic, is a recreational micronation, political simulation, online community, role-playing game and the host of a unique culture of its own. Slobovish history has been characterized by almost constant change, and Slobovia has often endured periods of instability, chaos and inactivity. Slobovia has also had favorable periods of growth, cultural development and activity. One such period was the Arwakung Period of 2003-2004, a golden age of impressive activity and prodigious cultural progress, which created much of Slobovia's unique identity.

Slobovia is not a separatist or secessionist movement. We oeganize ourselves in a manner resembling a state primarily for recreational reasons (i.e., it's a game; but don't tell other micronations that). We are a community of individuals, from many walks of life, who have joined together for the pursuit of recreation, fraternity and community. Slobovia is primarily a recreational micronation, but it is also a community of minds, exploring education, science, the arts and political, social and economic philosophy. We are also a community of recreation.

What Are Micronations?

The term "micronations" includes many different types of micronations (which have many different objectives), which is quite confusing for those who are unfamiliar with micronations. Etymologically, micronation literally means "small nation." Some micronations seek statehood (i.e., independence, the creation of a new nationstate), some seek nationhood (i.e., the creation of a new ethnic community), some are exercises of political philosophy (such as platforms from which to propagate new social, political or economic philosophies), some are examples of artistic expression, and some are recreational experiences similar to many forum-based games.

Slobovia is largely a recreational micronation. It also has tendencies toward exercising political and social philosophy and expressing artistic traits. It seeks not a society whose sole common feature is the accident of birth, but rather a community of individuals brought together by their own wills. We are not about boredom, but we are for finding more, new and better ways to express imagination and creativity. We do not rely upon factors beyond our control, we take control of our own processes to forge a community of like minded individuals.
